SUCCESS! Only purchases were subway tokens (that supposedly get reimbursed from my internship) & a fill-up of my gas tank (long overdue, & had a friend to fetch from the airport)
$2 toward the “will power buys a turkey” total.
stay tuned, I’m working on more visual representation & integrating a few things to the blog.

View →November 10, 2009 though Thanksgiving, I’m going cold-turkey on unnecessary spending.
No Coffee. No eating out. No Beers. No on-the-fly trips to Target. Driving less. and so on.
I will be sticking to all prior commitments & things I’ve signed up for, but no extras.
I realize that I am human. I will probably slip-up. And when I do, it will be posted here.
Also, when I slip-up and purchase something unnecessary, I will take 50% of that purchase price and set it aside for a local charity (I’m thinking Philabundance). Right before Thanksgiving, I will calculate the total and cut a check.
And since the it seems odd to have my success rewarded by NOT giving, for every day that I do indeed go extraneaous-purchase-free, I’ll add in $2 to the tally.
I think I will be able to NOT spend a few hundred dollars by doing so in the next couple weeks. Please follow along & join in as well!
